Riley Greco

Artist member since 2022
Sault Ste. Marie , Ontario

Riley Greco is a visual artist based in Northern Ontario, Canada, who has created art throughout her lifetime. Formally trained at Algoma University, Riley holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts and has exhibited within Northern Ontario as well as internationally. Riley has received several Canadian artist grants. Riley channels her experiences through her work. She observes that the overwhelming responsibilities and the pressures of society create imbalances within her and that they can only be managed through her art. By working through her art to better accept the way in which emotions and ideas affect her, Riley re-establishes a connection to self and can obtain peace. Through contemplation and meditation, creating gives Riley the ability to channel feelings and ideas through her physical body and gives way to an external expression. She paints, stains, carves, sands, and etches her experiences, insights and ideas onto wood. Manipulating the board, adding and removing colour, constantly reassessing, and allowing expressions to evolveโ€”it is through this process that she is able to balance her work, and thus, herself.
